We need your votes!
Michael and I have entered a wedding contest that is (partially) based on votes. We have to make it into the top 50 to be considered, so we have a long way to go and not much time.
This contest is for a dream wedding, sponsored by Crate & Barrel. Runners-up will receive C&B gift cards – quite nice for furnishing a new home. ![]()
If you’d like to vote for us, we’d appreciate it. One vote per person.

We would also welcome your efforts to recruit votes if you feel so inclined. ![]()
Thank you sooo much for all your love and support for us.
(Oh, and that’s one of the photos from our “impromptu photo session” the other day.)
Michael
While I was down in Richmond this weekend, I asked Michael if we could make time for a quick photo shoot at the park so we could get a picture for our save the dates. It was rather spur-of-the-moment and when we arrived, I discovered that, in my haste, I had left my tripod behind. I’m not really great at hand-holding for self-portraits, so we found a sign with a post sturdy enough to hold the camera, set it on self-timer, and had a lot of fun running back and forth from pressing the shutter button to posing.
The picture we ended up using for our save-the-dates won’t be posted till after those are sent out, but I did get a couple shots of Michael.
“Move back. Farther. Farther. Good. Now step to your left a little. Great. Right there.”
He’s such a good sport.
This was the last one I took of him before we started the timer and I jumped in. He thought he’d moved out of range, but I still caught him.

Valentine’s Day
The diamond earrings my fiance had set for me for Valentine’s Day, using stones from his mom’s engagement ring. They’re displayed on one of the roses in the stunning bouquet he bought me that day (I’m a yellow roses girl). Add in a dinner at our favorite Italian restaurant and dancing with friends at our favorite Richmond studio and our first Valentine’s Day together was absolutely perfect.
Photographers for Haiti – mini sessions for a cause
Colorado photographers Kelsey Bigelow and Kristi Crosson are spearheading an “organization” to help relief efforts in Haiti. Photographers around the globe are setting up mini sessions for one or two days that are designated Photographers for Haiti days. Proceeds from these special sessions will go to specific charity and relief organizations that are working in Haiti.
I’m going to participate in this project by donating two days of photography. If you want to help, sign up for one of these mini sessions. At just $30 for a 30-minute session, these are perfect for engagement photos, family portraits, maternity pictures, etc. All of the proceeds from these sessions will be going to Compassion International.*
February 27th – Richmond, Virginia (at Deep Run Park)
March 6th – Winchester, Virginia (at Jim Barnett Park)
Sessions are 30 minutes each for up to 6 people or 1 immediate family (dad, mom, and kids). You will receive a CD with 5-10 edited images and permission to reprint. Payment ($30) is required in advance to hold your spot and is non-refundable.*
These mini sessions will be held at one location (TBD) in each city, to keep traveling to a minimum and to allow for more sessions per day. Please contact me (rebekah@the-barefoot-bride.com) to schedule your session now!
*Checks should be made out directly to Compassion International.
